It’s not everyday that one comes across a home with Hard Maple wood floors. We are especially loving seeing it in this home. The interiors are a perfect balance of what can only be described as a mix of circus-esque quirk and classic elegance that is really refreshing to see. And the clean grade of the floor makes it a subtle, warm and comforting base in the home.
Other wood species such as Oak and Walnut are substantially more popular than Hard Maple for wood flooring. However, Hard Maple is a durable wood species. It has a creamy colour that undergoes a fairly major colour change, where the creamy tone turns golden over time. Hard Maple is an excellent wood species for cabinet making; beautiful tables, cupboards and boxes are also often made from Hard Maple. Hard Maple flooring is light, airy and timeless.
Kährs Hard Maple Toronto is a light floor in North American maple. The strips are selected to provide a subdued, harmonious impression.
Well hello inspiration! How amazing is this Scandinavian-inspired home in Melbourne, Australia?
A beautiful demonstration of the symbiosis of raw nature materials, achieving perfect harmony within a space. Blacks, grays, whites and natural wood make this a perfect example of what can only be described as a Scandi-contemporary take on rustic.
To get this look, keep your colours to a minimum and select Casa by Kährs Grande Collection for your base. Casa is a majestic floor with 2.8 metre long planks and a rustic, handscraped surface that contains knots and cracks.
When in doubt about combining colours, I always say it’s best to look to nature for inspiration. And why shouldn’t we? After all, nature is associated with harmony for a reason. Vibrant, manmade colours might be great for accents, but for a base that you will never tire of and that will certainly never go out of style, nature’s own colour schemes (and textures) are truly the best, and most sustainable, source of inspiration.
Combining soft greys, dusty-olive greens and rich cocoa brown patinas for your base, you will create a classically elegant combination that will definitely bring harmony to your home. Depending on your personal style, you can calibrate the masculine-to-feminine feel to this colour scheme – the key lies entirely in the finishing touches.
A beautiful wood floor such as Oak Ulf by Kährs Founders Collection is the perfect tone of olive/grey/brown. Handcrafted and deeply brushed to enhance the beauty and specific characteristics of each and every board.
Last weekend we had the pleasure of taking pictures of this cozy bungalow-style Green Community villa owned by a lovely Turkish family. It is always a pleasure to see a beautiful wood floor such as Kährs Crater Oak in a real family home. The wood flooring itself is very interesting. Not only is it smoked with lots of knots and gnarls but it is also handscraped, giving the floor that ultimate rustic feel that feels heavenly underfoot. Even the family cat loves it.
The first thought that came to mind when we entered the home was: Orient Express and its glory-days. With classic European-style wallpapers and panelling, old antiquities, rustic furniture and beautifully aged Turkish leather and textiles (including the two beautiful floor-cushions which were originally a couple of 100-year old carpets), this home exemplifies East-meets-West.
Along with a large dose of that well-known Turkish hospitality from the owner, we really felt that this home really is just that – hospitable and cozy. A real home.

We recently had the pleasure of having a photo shoot in our clients’ Mirador villa in Arabian Ranches – a beautiful and bright family home fully fitted with Kährs wood flooring. This home bathes in natural sunlight throughout the day and strongly reminds us of the French Riviera/Côte d’Azur with its plethora of glamorous furnishings and unique decorative gems combined with rustic, romantic touches. And that gorgeous Cocker Spaniel pup! Precious.
Kährs Oak Hultaby is a really rustic 1-strip wood floor where the surface is handcrafted to enhance the beauty of the knots and cracks. The floor is surface-treated with a natural white oil in the factory, making it the perfect choice for a family home with children and pets. A heavy-duty floor that is guaranteed to last for generations.

Though we’re still waiting for the hyped store to open in the UAE, H&M Home‘s online store inspires us with romantic Bohemian Vintage style this autumn.
Yes, Autumn is just around the corner! And if you, like us, can’t wait for the temperatures to drop a little (or a lot) – then planning for an autumn interior design scheme makes the wait a little less tedious and a lot more exciting. Now, although we don’t really get that cozy autumn feel outdoors, we can always create the feel indoors. So, this autumn we say hello to a darker, smouldering new take on romantic bohemian: bohemian vintage! To achieve this look, combine shiny copper metallics with dark graphite grays and dusty pinks in rugged linen textures and vintage bohemian floral prints.
And if you’re looking for something a little extra special, something so very unique and eye-catching to give that bit of glam-pop to your bohemian vintage look, then say hello to Kährs über-cool wood floor, Black Copper. This 1-strip ash wood floor has a black stain and copper metallic in the pores, and is finished off with a high-gloss lacquer that further enhances the shimmering metallic copper. Absolutely stunning!
Palm Jumeirah’s coastal qualities and the villa’s seafront locale influenced the look of this home. Every inch of this vibrant 6,500 sq. ft. Atrium villa on Palm Jumeirah is full of contemporary and retro furnishings, memorabilia, sculptures and art that achieve a finely tuned balance, which is both elegant and engaging. “This is a villa by the beach. I wanted to preserve the elements that define it, such as the colours of the sand, the sea and the garden, while injecting a sense of unpredictability”” says the homeowner.
“The only challenge that arose was that this villa is a rental, rather than privately owned, so the ‘wow’ factor had to come from the furnishings and decor and not from any dramatic structural changes, which were not possible” says interiors stylist Devjani Cox. That is why Kährs Oak Dome wood flooring was the obvious choice for this home.
The 7 mm thick stained oak floor in a warm white tone from Kährs Linnea range is a wood veneer floor, created using Kährs’ patented three-layer parquet technology. Kährs floors are ideal for people renting their homes, as it is installed in a floating manner on top of any existing tiles or marble flooring without the use of any nails or glue, thereby eliminating the risk of damage to the subfloor.

Here’s another example of how industrial elements with mute colours and raw organic materials such as cotton, wood and jute combine together beautifully to create visual magic.
This coffee shop in Barcelona, designed by INTSIGHT has a graphic look and highly textured feel that adds layers and in turn, a lot of intrigue – making this café a real hipster heaven.

A colour between grey and beige, closely akin to taupe; Unfinished; not fully processed; neither bleached nor dyed.
The graphic black and white interiors that have been popular on a wide front for several seasons has gained major competition from “greige” interiors. This combination of soft grays and dirty beige earth tones, is romantic, timeless, whimsical and beautiful.
Pearl by Kährs Shine Collection is the perfect wood floor with its high-gloss, silver/pearl shimmer finish if you are looking to add a tasteful and contemporary kind of glamour to your greige interiors.
If the rustic kind of bold is more your thing, then our grandest wood floor Oak Espace by Kährs Grande Collection is the one for you. Not only is it beautifully smoked with heavy variations between grey and beige/brown tones, but it is also handscraped and contains knots and cracks for that true rustic feeling best experienced by bare feet.
