LOFT LOVE

August 29, 2016

We absolutely love the look of this loft apartment. Creating a loft feeling means keeping the decor fairly minimalist, while using diverse raw materials for a textural and tactile variety. Create contrasts with a common denominator – preferably selecting materials with a slight vintage essence to them that converted old factory spaces often have to them.

The key, however, lies in the foundations- meaning the floor, the walls, the influx of natural light as well as the overall architecture and working around these to create an authentic loft feeling. Kährs Vedbo (pictured) has a natural oak colour with enhanced contrast and warmth; and golden tones from honey and ripe rye during harvest time.

We suggest combining the rustic Kährs Vedbo wood flooring with a White Brick wallpaper by Mr Perswall (D.Tales), a funky Molecular Pendant Lamp by House Doctor (The Bowery Company), and other neutral furniture and decor. Allow for pops of colour – in limited quantities – displayed in artwork, such as pop-artsy posters (Gallery One).

A great general tip for artwork is to invest in some nice frames with real glass. Light will beautifully reflect off the glass, increasing the sense of space and light while showcasing and enhancing the art displayed. You may also choose to leave your frames on the floor rather than hanging them on the walls- leaning them casually against a wall and stacked one in front of the other.
