Jotun’s City Motions Palette from their Colour Trends 2018 inspired the greige-brown moodboard theme for our Floor of the Month for February 2018: Kährs Oak Granite.

This palette from Jotun’s 2018 collection includes colours such as the pale grey Bare; the rich brown Norwegian Wood; and warm beige Raw Canvas – “inspired by Copenhagen and London, Brooklyn and Berlin – all pockets of modernity, brimming with creative culture” and epitomises cool, clean lines balanced with softness and warmth. Where industrial meets comfort.

Kährs Oak Granite is the perfect combination of both. The cool cement-grey stain on this smoked oak floor allows the warmer tones of the wood to seep through, resulting in a beautifully rustic expression. Each board is carefully brushed to bring out the character of the grain and highlight the natural texture of the timber. The matt lacquer finish eliminates glare while protecting the wood from daily wear.

Kährs Oak Granite 3-strip is currently available in stock in Dubai. Visit our showroom in Sidra Tower or contact us on tel. +971 4 369 55 69 for more information.

During the Quoz Arts Fest 2018, we will be showcasing Kährs wood flooring at the ikonhouse showroom in Alserkal Avenue, where they are hosting a lifestyle exhibition of the latest interior trends. The ikonhouse showroom will be modified to showcase set-ups curated by professional interior designers who will be present during both days to give you some guidance on how you could make your own homes even cosier. Get ready to have all your senses stimulated!

Date: 26-27 January 2018

December is here and we are officially in a festive mood! This year, we’re feeling inspired by a very minimalistic Christmas reminiscent of a Nordic winter landscape, with a white base; greens and browns as accent hues; and a touch of metallic shimmer for an understated elegance.

Our Floor of the Month for December Kährs Oak Limestone has a whisper-white finish and a clean and even expression. Each board is carefully brushed to bring out the character of the grain and highlight the natural texture of the timber.

We are currently loving the combination of warm burnt yellows, caramel-orange and rich brown tones; juxtaposed with the coolness of light greys and crisp whites for an fresh autumn mood.

Our Floor of the Month for November Kährs Oak Siena FSC® is a classic 3-strip wood floor in natural FSC-certified oak, that ranges from brown butter highlights to caramel lowlights for a classic expression.

Last week we got the chance to stay at a recently renovated apartment in Stockholm, Sweden, which had a generous influx of natural light through large windows, high ceilings and open spaces, beautiful wall colours by Jotun paints, elegant high skirting panels and our rustic Kährs Oak Sture wood flooring.

The apartment lies within a building that was built in 1883, and although it has recently been renovated, the owners have made sure pay homage to the charming old features while giving it a fresh and updated look.

Classic muted tones in greens, greys and browns have been used, while all ceilings, fixtures, frames and mouldings are kept white – enhancing that airy feeling that ties together the space. The use of contrasting materials (e.g. natural wood, stainless steel and marble) creates depth and a layered feeling. Inspiration deluxe!

We’re currently having Swedish singer Tommy Nilsson’s hit “Dina Färger Var Blå” (a classic summer song) on repeat, dreaming of the beautiful Swedish summer!

And one of the most iconic summer spots in Sweden is the beautiful island Gotland, known for its medieval architecture, rugged beaches with azure waters lapping the shoreline, sand dunes and mile upon mile of beach with panoramic views of the Baltic Sea.

And therefore, this month the colours we’re loving are the azure blue, creamy white, sandy beige and stone grey colours of Gotland.

Our Floor of the Month for July, Kährs Oak Dew, is the perfect ode to the Swedish summer and rustic nature of Gotland. It’s white oil patina enhances the distinctive texture found in the oak for a fresh, coastal look. It’s the perfect floor that will warm up a more modern scheme while it’s rustic nature will accentuate a more “country” interior. A truly versatile floor that works for any scheme.

This apartment in the sustainable Hammarby Sjöstad in Stockholm features very bright, light-filled interiors and elegant luxurious textures in wood, marble, velvet and brass.

The Kährs Oak Limestone wood floor enhances the natural light in the apartment with its whisper-white finish and clean and even expression. Each board is carefully brushed to bring out the character of the grain and highlight the natural texture of the timber. The matt lacquer finish eliminates glare while protecting the wood from daily wear.

Our client, Ulrika Hedlund, Co-founder and Managing Director of Dubai-based Business Productivity, transformed a standard Rimal apartment in Jumeriah Beach Residence into a beautiful family home.

Ulrika, a Swedish native, wanted to create a cozy home for herself, her husband and three children that reflected their Swedish heritage and enhanced the beautiful views over JBR and Palm Jumeirah, as well as the glittering turquoise sea.

Along with other major changes done by Noaf Interiors, Ulrika selected two of our classic Swedish wood floors: the 2-strip Kährs Oak Verona & 3-strip Kährs Oak Siena instead of the standard floor tiles to complete the overall look and feel of her home.

Here is what Ulrika had to say about her experience with us:

Q: How was your overall experience with Nordic Homeworx?

A: The overall experience dealing with Nordic Homeworx has been extremely positive – from the first viewing of the floor in the founders own home, to showroom demonstrations, installation and post-installation fixes. Everyone we have met along the way has been very professional and service-minded.

Q: How has having a natural wood floor in hour home affected everyday living?

A: The floor really makes a huge difference, making the apartment feel like “home”.

Q: Did you find our installers kept your house clean?

A: The installers were very quick and clean.

Q: Do you feel that this flooring increases the value of your home?

A: I absolutely feel the floor increases the value of our home. It makes it stand out from other apartments and gives it an overall feeling of high-end quality.

Here are some before & after pictures of Ulrika’s home. You can also view more images of Ulrika’s home here. What a transformation!

Last week we visited our client’s apartment with our trusted partner Studio Zee for a photoshoot of their newly renovated home. We had been to the apartment back in November 2016, before renovations began, in order to get some before shots – and we are so happy we did because what a transformation it was!

Here are a some before and after pictures of the client’s apartment in Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai:

As you can see, the client made huge some pretty big changes in their apartment – including going from the standard tiles to our natural Kährs Oak Verona wood flooring. We love!

Inspired by our Floor of the Month, we are dreaming of the bohemian and tropical island of Bali. Neutral Balinese interiors with a Nordic touch, that together create a calm and harmonious feeling. Raw and natural materials such as linen, wood, rattan and bamboo in neutral white and beige tones, with accents of black that add an edgy feel.

Our Floor of the Month for May, Kährs Pale has a semi-transparent white colour with balanced contrast that allow the warm oak nuances to shine through. The perfect base for a light, nordic style interior.
