We are now live at Downtown Design! We welcome you to come by and say hello at booth A02!

We’re really proud of our “Scandinavian Loft” concept. Our goal was to create a bright, timeless (yet modern) and inviting space for our visitors to gain a better of understanding of how a natural wood floor by Kährs of Sweden can affect the ambiance and look of a space.

The focus this year for us, along with the launch of our new Kährs Chevron Collection, is “a modern take on a classic” which Scandinavias do so well! We are so happy to be able to bring a piece of Sweden’s design and quality to Dubai and the Middle East. Absolutely love the combination of our new Kährs Chevron Grey floor with the beautiful Muuto and &Tradition furniture, Mr Perswall white brick wallpaper and Rubn Long John pendants by our friends at D.Tales ✨ Total Scandi-heaven!

And what’s more, we were honoured with the special visit of the Ambassador of Sweden in the UAE, H.E. Jan Thesleff during the VIP preview yesterday! ??

We love this minimalist dining room in Stockholm, Sweden. Everything from the custom open shelves, the white-washed herringbone patterned oak wood floors, colour scheme and brightness of the space all make for an elegant, airy and “minimalistically” beautiful family dining room.

Temperatures are rapidly dropping here in Dubai, and we can’t help but get a little more excited about the cooler climate and all the cosy festivities happening this season. Interior design bible Elle Decoration has stated that this autumn is all about “feathers and bold patterns combined in a wide range of shades such as soil, chestnut and rust mixed with metallic shimmering copper, gold and amber with accent colours in deep red and bright blue.” And as for the floor? Kährs Domo wood flooring – an extremely rustic 2-strip board with knots, cracks and a beautiful deep golden brown colour – is a perfect match to this autumn’s colour palette.

Another great source of inspiration is Pennsylvania-native Anthropologie. They definitely know how to inspire with their beautiful images and styling, and have got us seriously excited for a more rustic, layered, countryside autumn with their new November Lookbook, set perfectly against the the backdrop of the picturesque Scottish isles of Jura and Islay. Now we’re not only excited for the cooler climate, but also for visiting beautiful Scotland! Wow, what a landscape.

Similar to what we see in the world of fashion, good interior design is best accomplished when combining odd vintage, high street and designer pieces. And today we’re feeling inspired by what we consider to be a classic, simplistic, Nordic-glam kind of interior. The kind of interior that is harmonious, cozy and stylish all at once.

Something important to keep in mind when designing a space is the kind of style you want to portray. For instance, a light wood floor immediately makes for a more sleek, fresh and Scandinavian style. Darker wood on the other hand, makes for a more colonial and elegant feel, while cherry or redder woods generally make for more classic interiors.

We are loving the combination of raw ash wood (similar to Kährs Ash Skagen) and Scandinavian designer furniture seen in this home below. This place from Folkhem is styled perfectly with nice gradients of whites and greys. When can we move in?

So what feeling do you strive to achieve in your home? Regardless of which you choose, Feng Shui recommends having a strong wood element within your environment in order for it to feel more harmonious and balanced.

This autumn we’re inspired by grey. Adding touches of grey elements made from natural and sustainable materials into your home adds a cozy feel with cool elegance and brings a piece of nature indoors.

Here is an inspirational mood board featuring some Scandinavian design classics.

1. Around table by Muuto | 2. Dania wallpaper by Storeys | 3. Arne Jacobsen’s Mayor sofa by &tradition | 4. Cliff Oak wood floor by Kährs | 5. Nordic Light candlestick by Design House Stockholm | 6. The Dots wallhooks by Muuto | 7. Tree wallpaper by Mr Perswall | 8. Oak Slate wood floor by Kährs Artisan Collection | 9. Björk rug by Design House Stockholm | 10. Raw chair by Muuto

Oh, how we love these unique wall hooks by Muuto. “THE DOTS” are made entirely of first class oak or stained ash and are just as functional as they are beautiful as wall decoration.

“This characterful little family of hooks is a friendly addition to any wall. The Dots are proud of their round edges and will treat your clothes with the greatest care. They will also let you arrange them on your wall in the pattern you like. Being a very social set of hooks, The Dots love to welcome other Dots to join them on the wall. The only thing The Dots demand from you is that you uncover them every now and then and admire their shape and material.” – Lars Tornøe, Designer.
