Strolling around at the Index 2012 show last week, we got the opportunity to witness the ever-growing use of natural products (namely wood) with a high sustainability-factor. This is definitely the way forward in the design industry – bringing the natural materials back in style.
There are some really quirky, innovative ways of (re)using wood out there!
Below are some of our favourites from the show. Let yourself be inspired![easyrotator]erc_61_1348986585[/easyrotator]
Walnut flooring is often associated with New York’s Upper East Side classic style of interior setting which is very beautiful in itself, but after seeing these incredibly inspirational images by Hitta Hem, we are shown how to “untraditionally” combine Scandinavian urban minimalism with the ultimate American wood floor classic in a revolutionary new style, which we have dubbed “Scandimerican.”
The rich floor beautifully balances out monochromatic tones typical of the Scandinavian style with its warm chocolate colour and natural variations. Taking a floor that is a true classic in the world of wood floors and making it youthful and contemporary is simply genius. Let this be a source of inspiration on how to stray away from the obvious and dare to mix and match styles!
